Discover the Rich History of Lauderdale Lake Country Club!
Lauderdale Lakes Country Club first opened its doors in 1921, and a part of our rustic clubhouse still echoes the charm of that era. In the 1930s, Edward Hawks Ravenscroft stepped in to save the golf course from bankruptcy, purchasing it at a court-ordered sale. He then redesigned the layout we enjoy today, complete with smaller greens and narrow, rolling fairways that reflect the classic architecture of the time.
Nestled on 45 acres, our course is filled with majestic mature trees, natural terrain, and a wealth of history. A true Lauderdale Lakes landmark, our water tower, originally built in the 1930s to serve the clubhouse, has stood the test of time. Although it fell into disrepair, it was recently restored in honor of Mr. Ravenscroft—our beloved course architect, long-time lake resident, and passionate golfer. The Lawrence Myers family, descendants of Mr. Ravenscroft, generously funded the restoration, creating beautiful gardens, a serene water feature, and a new scorecard design.

In the 1920s, the original course layout featured names for each of the nine holes. Since then, as the course has evolved, we’ve renamed the holes to honor our rich history, with some names reminiscent of the past and others celebrating local Lauderdale landmarks.
Since Mr. Ravenscroft’s ownership in the 1930s, the course has been “saved” multiple times, changing hands among notable owners, including the historic Sterlingworth Hotel and a group of dedicated Lauderdale homeowners. Most recently, the Lauderdale Lakes Lake Management District took ownership in the 1990s, when local property owners voted to preserve the course from development. Many of these long-time residents learned to play golf here, and countless stories tell of families who have enjoyed this course for 50 or even 60 years!
Now placed in a conservancy, Lauderdale Lakes Country Club is safeguarded against development, ensuring that future generations will continue to enjoy this beautiful space. Come join us and be part of our storied legacy!
